Abstract. This article devoted to the historical background of the formation of holding companies and consolidated financial statements are considered. The methods of consolidation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS, as well as their brief description are presented. The essence of the principles of consolidation of financial statements in accordance to IFRS. Consolidated Financial Statements (CFS) are perceived as a summary report that has been obtained by aggregating data on various indicators. However, this is not entirely correct, since the principle of its preparation is determined not by the execution of arithmetic operations, but by the economic essence of the business. The need for this process arises as a result of business growth, the folding of large business structures as a result of mergers of several firms or acquisitions. Consolidated financial statements demonstrate business transparency to create a positive image for potential investors and to comply with IFRS.
