Abstract. This article analyzes the theoretical and legal foundations of the organization of lending activities of commercial banks in our country, the structure of the assets of the banking system and the distribution of the loan portfolio by sectors. Also, specific aspects of lending activities of commercial banks in developed and developing countries and the practical situation of problematic loans are studied.
