The article explores the internal and external problems of water resources use
in the regions of the Syr Darya basin. The analysis was carried out of emerging
problems in the Syr Darya basin in the sphere of water use. There have been
developed recommendations and proposals for the effective use of water resources.
Key words: Syr Darya basin, transboundary water resources, effective use of
water, water scarcity, reduction of water losses, increase in productivity of water
use, vegetation period.
